The first round in the men’s saw County Champion Cole Betteridge (Sherwood Forest) take on the vastly experienced Adam Dorricott (Chilwell Manor), this was always going to be a tough match for either player, some quality golf ensued and Cole Betteridge ran out the winner by 5&4
In the second match it saw County Captain Dean Reddington take fellow Sherwood Forest member Lee Shepherd, a great match with Dean Reddington winning by 2&1.
In the 3rd match Sam Horsley (Stanton) take on Jacob Smith (Sherwood), again another great match, Jacob Smith won that one 2&1
In the final match of the men’s American collegiate player Lennon Albans (Hollinwell) play veteran and current Matchplay champion Ross Overton (Sherwood), after a great battle Lennon Albans won by 5&4
In the semi-finals the 1st match saw Cole Betteridge take on Dean Reddington, a good game to watch with Dean Reddington running out the winner by 2&1
In the 2nd semi-final Lennon Albans took on Jacob Smith, with Jacob Smith, winning by 2&1
The final was a match of very high quality in what can be described as very hot conditions, the standard of the golf is a credit to the players and the county, played in a great spirit and well fought, the winner and champion for the year is Jacob Smith from Sherwood Forest winning on the 19th Hole.
Moving on to the seniors Matchplay, again the standard of golf was of a very high standard despite the weather being very hot.
In the 1st round it saw County Seniors champion Chris Powell (Sherwood Forest) take on Mark Betteridge (Coxmoor), both are very high-quality senior golfers, the match was great to watch with Chris Powell winning 2&1
In the 2nd match saw Mike Faulkner (Sherwood Forest) take on Steve Hogg from Rushcliffe, a game of great equals, the winner was Steve Hogg 1up.. In the 3rd game it was Seniors Strokeplay runner up Willie Colquhoun (Sherwood Forest) take on Jason Pascoe (Coxmoor) who has only recently turned 55, a tough match with Willie Colquhoun prevailing by 4&3.
In the final first round match saw County Deputy President Rob Sallis (Hollinwell) take on Darren Hunt ( Worksop), a good game with Rob Sallis winning by 1up.
The first match of the semi-finals saw Steve Hogg beat Chris Powell by 2&1
The second semi – final between Rob Sallis and Willie Colquhoun saw Rob Sallis win by a margin of 5&4
The final was a great match and a credit to seniors golf, both players performed well considering the difficult weather conditions, the winner and champion for the year is Rob Sallis (Hollinwell) 2up win.
A huge shout-out to all the players, referees, but most importantly to Hollinwell staff and its members for allowing us the use of the course.
