COUNTY CAPTAIN REPORT
Sherwood Forest GC were the host’s for our penultimate fixture of the season, coming into this game we still had a slim chance of winning the league but in front of us were Warwickshire. For this game it was nice to bring in Lennon Albans a young golfer who has come through the notts youth golfing system, we had a couple of new foursomes pairings for this one, Mike white & Jack Sallis and Lee Shepard & Lennon Albans otherwise the pairings were settled. First out in the morning was Fred & killian unfortunately they didn’t get off to the best start and didn’t recover going down 3-2, Ashley & Mark squeezed a result in a tight match 1 up Lee & Lennon had a real battle in there match to eventually get us a half, Jack & Mike held off there opponent’s 2-1, Cole & Deano we’re dominant in there match winning 3-2. So the morning foursomes were very tight but we came out on top 3/12 1/12. We went out in the afternoon not complacent as both these teams are very good in the single’s element of these matches, both teams have had a lot of success in the past, unfortunately for us it was Warwickshire who came out on top in this one winning 6 of the 10 singles matches, 4 of these were very tight matches which we were on the wrong side of and that’s been a trend of ours this year not turning around the tight ones in our favour, Fred, killian,Lennon,Mark,Lee and Cole all lost there matches. Ashley and Mike come out with good halves in the end in matches that ebbed and flowed either way but there was never much between them. We had two really good wins from Jack the salad Sallis and Dean the redhead Reddington, both got better as the round went on and closed out the matches 4-2 to Jack and 2-1 to Dean. This loss hurt as we couldn’t close this match out but credit to Warwickshire, they played some nice golf in the afternoon and deserved to win after over turning the deficit from the morning foursomes, next up is Hereford&shropshire away this is a big game for lots of reasons, so we will be looking forward to our last challenge of this season determined to end the season on a high.
