COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT 2024

The County Amateur took place at the magnificent Sherwood Forest GC on Sunday 9th June 2024. The course was presented superbly and a credit to the Greens staff. Conditions were very difficult with high winds and cool weather.

Running concurrently with the Amateur is the Notts Open which features 20 professionals from around the County. The pro’s play for the Open Trophy only and the amateurs play for both.

The next best score was a 72 from Jake Benson (Beeston Fields). Lying in 3rd place with a 73 was Darren Kirton (College Pines), there were several 74’s from various Pro’s and amateurs.

The 2nd round proved no easier for scoring, however Andy Willey added another 70 to post a total of 140, -2 under par, which secured the Open Trophy for the second consecutive year. The winner of the Amateur Championship was Mark Porter (Sherwood Forest), who shot 75+ 69 =144, winning by one shot from the defending champion Killion Ryan (Hollinwell) 76 + 69 = 145, in 3rd place was Jake Benson (Beeston Fields) 72 + 75 = 147.
