DERBYSHIRE MATCH REPORT 1ST TEAM

CHOCOLATE INTAKE UP 400%

Our fourth match of the season against Derbyshire at Coxmoor was an incredibly tight affair from the start to finish.

The morning foursomes saw the lead changing hands throughout in a lot of matches. However, strong finishes from George and Killian, Dean and Mark and Malc and Jacob saw us win 2.5 points to take us into the singles with all to play for.

Having tweaked the order slightly we set off in the singles knowing that our chances of winning the league title hinged on the results in the singles.

The next 4 hours was a bit of a nail biter if truth be told, and increased my weekly chocolate intake by approximately 400%.

Many of the matches were very close throughout. At times it looked like we were cruising to victory, and other times it looked like a miracle would be required. In the end I had absolutely nothing to worry about as the lads obviously had everything under control, but had just forgotten to let me know.

The afternoon singles, wins for George ‘Turkey Teeth’ Cordall, Mark ‘The Power’ Porter, Jacob ‘The Silent Assassin’ Smith, Malc ‘The Bulldozer’ Brown and’ Dangerous’ Dean Reddington. Well done gents, great work.

I must mention ‘Magic’ Matt Hogg, Killian ‘The Tash’ Ryan and mighty Mitch Newton who produced unbelievable fight backs to halve their matches.

May I take this opportunity to thank all associated with Coxmoor for looking after us throughout the day, it was much appreciated. Thanks to Richard Jeffs for being our official starter and for putting up with me all day while on a buggy, and Colin and Mandy for their ongoing support.

We now head into the final game of the season with an opportunity to win the league for the second time in three years, so we will be giving it all we’ve got to ensure this happens.

Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to George and Lennon as they’re heading back to the USA for their upcoming seasons, and Killian will be leaving us as he transitions to the Pro ranks. We wish them all every success for the coming year and we’ll certainly miss them.
