The season opening Eddie Peters trophy took place today at our premier course Hollinwell, the course was in spectacular condition considering the recent weather, tribute must be made to the greens team.
The competition is a singles medal open to any golfer with a handicap of 9 or less, the main competition is for the Eddie Peters trophy and the winner is the best gross score on the day, this was a closely fought affair with Sherwood Forest members Will Psenko and Mark Porter both shooting 5 under par 67s.
Will Psenko who is only 15 years old edged out Porter on count back, thus winning the trophy, in 3rd place was also 15 years old Harry Banner also from Sherwood Forest who shot a very impressive 3 under par 69.
In 4th place shotting level par was Worksop’s Aiden Perkins who edged out Rufford Parks Ben Morton.
Moving on the handicap winners of the day, in first place winning on count back was Reuben Beecroft from Worksop who shot a nett 66 to edge out John Jenkins from Sherwood Forest, in third place was Richard Annable from Rushcliffe who was the best of the nett 67s, finishing 4th was Will Psenko from Sherwood and 5th was Sam Oates from the Nottinghamshire.
All in all a very good day played in fine weather, our sincere thanks go to Hollinwell and its members for allowing us the use of the course and for the staff for looking after us so well.
