MEN’S & MIXED FIANLS AT WOLLATON

INTERCLUB FINALS REPORT

The final event of the year at County course Wollaton Park took place today, the Men’s & Mixed Interclub Foursomes finals.

MEN’S FINAL

The Men’s final was between Sherwood Forest and Chilwell Manor, representing Sherwood were County 1st teamer Dean Reddington and County Captain Elect Anthony Wain, accompanied by fellow members Peter Yorston and Jamie Morgan. Their opponents from Chilwell Manor whose team was made of County Seniors player Neil Sanderson partnered by his son Charlie. Their other pair were made up of Sam Wiggins & Andy Holt. The finals are 36-hole matches, the score after 18 holes was 2 up to Chilwell Manor.

The afternoon round saw Chilwell take a commanding leap after 9 holes. Being 4 up in both matches, Chilwell continued their form and ending up winning by 11 up overall.

MIXED FINAL

In the Mixed final Stanton on the Wolds took on Hollinwell. Some very notable and high-quality golfers at all levels, men & women. Representing Stanton was Tom Bagshaw and his partner Karen Raynor, their other pair is Scott Hamilton and Emma Howie.  Hollinwell were County Senior Andy Cook and his partner Lauren Spray, their other pair was made up of County Senior Tim Clarke and his partner Janet Peters.

The score after the opening 18 was 4 up to Stanton.

The afternoon saw Hollinwell take up a 1 up lead in the first match but in the second match Stanton had a commanding 6up lead after 9 holes. Whilst the first match was a tight affair and Hollinwell were 1 up after 15 holes, the second match Stanton were 9 up after 145 holes, meaning that they ran out comfortable winners 8 up.

This is the final event at Wollaton Park as County Course and what a treat it has been to be at Wollaton, superb course in superb condition all year. Great service and welcome, what more could we want.
