SENIOR STROKEPLAY REPORT

The Seniors Championship took place at Wollaton Park GC on Friday 16th June, 65 Competitors took part in the event. The competition is a Scratch event with further Nett and age-related prizes.

Mark Betteridge (Coxmoor GC) set an early pace with a 75 Gross; this was immediately bettered with a 72 from the defending Champion Charles Banks (Stanton on the Wolds GC). Several reasonable scores followed over the course of the day, but none getting close to Banks.

The final group out contained Wollaton Park Head Green keeper Martin Scothern (Coxmoor GC), who missed a short putt on the last hole to miss out on 2nd place, shooting 76 Gross.

In the Nett event and excellent Nett 67 from Ian Dallas (Oakmere Park GC)

80 – 13 – 67 saw him clinch 1st prize. In 2nd place with a Nett 69 was evergreen Peter Higgins (Radcliffe on Trent GC) 78 – 9 – 69, in 3rd place was Mapperley Dermot Booth 83 – 14- 69 only loosing out on countback to Higgins.

In the Age categories the winners were as follows:

55 to 59 – Andrew Marsh (Worksop) 78 – 6 -72

60 to 64 – Graeme Macdonald (Wollaton Park) 81 – 10 – 71

65 to 69 – Kevin mantle (Springwater) 83 – 7 – 76

70+ – Richard Bonnello – (Hollinwell) 84 – 7- 77

The top gross scores qualify for the Matchplay, the draw will be made over the weekend
