Nottinghamshire competed in the England Golf 10 Counties Midland Qualifier on Saturday 13th July at Trentham Park GC, with a strong team of Jack Sallis, Mark Porter, Matt Hogg, Cole Betteridge, Killian Ryan and George Cordall.
The event is played over 36 holes Strokeplay, our morning scores saw us trailing the leader by 14 shots, this left us in 7th place overall. It has to be said scoring in the main was very low, but the afternoon round saw us play some fine golf, but it was all in vain as Lincolnshire romped to a convincing victory. In 2nd place was Leicestershire & Rutland, we managed to move up to finish in 6th place.
There is also an individual event and our top performer was Worksop’s George Cordall, who shot level par overall.
Our individual scores:
George Cordall – 70+72 = 142
Killian Ryan – 71 + 71 = 143
Cole Betteridge – 73 + 74 = 145
Matt Hogg – 73 + 74 = 145
Jack Sallis – 75 + 72 =147
Mark Porter – 78 + 71 = 149
A good effort but slightly disappointing overall, would, could not be was the lad’s attitude and effort, which had been exceptional over the two rounds
