COUNTY SENIORS’ CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT 2026

The County Seniors Championship took place at Coxmoor Golf Club today, it is always a pleasure to visit Coxmoor and the players were treated to a golf course in fine condition.
There were nearly 90 players entered and despite difficult conditions there were some excellent scores, the main event is the scratch championship, but there are also net prizes and age-related prizes, the seniors’ section within the county is very competitive and prizes are difficult to come by.
The winner of the seniors’ championship this year was Mark Betteridge from Coxmoor with a gross score of 73, in 2nd place was Charles Banks from SOTW who shot 75 gross, in 3rd place was Darren Hunt from Retford with a gross score of 75, in 4th place was Andy Cooke from Hollinwell who shot a gross 76 and in 5th place was James Vardy from Wollaton Park who shot a gross 78.
In the net prizes the overall nett winner was Peter Higgins from ROT who shot a nett 69, in 2nd place was Darren Hunt from Retford who shot a nett 71 and in 3rd place was Steve Evans from The Nottinghamshire who shot a nett 72, 4th place went to Mark Betteridge from Coxmoor who shot a nett and in 5th place was Wayne Beeston from College Pines who shot a nett 72 also.
In the age category prizes, the age 55 to 59 winner was James Charlton from Rushcliffe who shot a nett 73, in the 60 to 64 category the winner was Andy Chambers from Coxmoor who shot a nett 76. In the 65 to 69 category the winner was Vic Morris from Hollinwell, who shot a nett 77, and finally the over 70s winner was John Shelton-Smith from Rushcliffe who shot a great 75 nett.
