MENS HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT 2026

MENS HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT 2026

The Men’s Handicap Championship was played today at Beeston Fields Golf Club, it is sad to sat this may be the last time a county event is played there, due to the impending situation of the course being turned into houses.

We have been truly blessed as a county to be able to host county events there since 1923, and are very sorry to see that will no longer continue.

The Men’s handicap championship is now in its third year and continues to attract strong numbers, in particular a large contingent from Bulwell Forest who support this event and the Men’s Pairs every year, we thank them.

The event is primarily a handicap event but in addition to the main trophy for the best nett score, there is also 3 gross prizes with the leading gross collecting a salver.

The course was very well presented despite the drought conditions and our thanks go to the green staff for their efforts and dedication.

Please see below the winners

Winner of the Handicap Championship- Wayne Beeston – College Pines 69-B9 Nett

Runner up – Dermot Booth – Mapperley -69 Nett

Third place – Paul Gosling – Bulwell Forest – 70 Nett

Winner of the best Gross score- Darren Kirton – College Pines – 72 Gross

Runner up – Aiden Perkins – Rufford Park – 73 Gross

Third place- Ben Willey – Norwood Park – 75 Gross

In closing the county thank Beeston Fields for hosting the event today, but would like to recognise their enormous contribution to Nottinghamshire County over the last 103 years, without the clubs support it would have made running events so much harder.
